About Fit For Living
Since 2006 we have coached people who were fairly sure gyms were not for them.
2006–2026
20 years on the same floor at 37 Mercer Street, Geelong, with the same coaches.
“We are not in the business of selling memberships people never use. We coach movement first, build real physical capacity, and keep people moving for the decades ahead.”
About Our Practice
What we are
Fit For Living opened on Mercer Street in 2006 with a distinct, quiet intention: to create a coached training environment stripped of performance theatrics, mirrors, and false promises. Over two decades, we have remained anchored in the exact same brick warehouse across from central Geelong.
We work with everyday people who need sustainable physical longevity—parents rebuilding core stability, desk workers reversing spinal compression, teenagers learning movement mechanics, and seniors preserving joint mobility and bone density.
We do not sell unattended key fobs hoping you never walk through the door. Every person on this floor is known by name, coached by university-trained exercise scientists, and held to a standard of gradual, safe progression.

Our Operating Principles
Four non-negotiables on our floor
Assessment before load
We never guess what a body can tolerate. Every client begins with biomechanical screening, mobility review, and injury history assessment before touching external load.
Coaching over supervision
Standing on the floor with a clipboard is not coaching. Active cueing, real-time form adjustment, joint angle awareness, and progressive overload pacing are.
Small groups over crowds
Our sessions are capped strictly so coaches know your movement history, baseline tolerances, and fatigue index on any given morning.
A room with no audience
No mirrors for posing, no vanity metrics, no choreography, and zero performative pressure. The work is between you, your body, and the floor.
The Spatial Standard
A room built for calm, deliberate work
The natural daylight pouring from our high clerestory windows across Mercer Street sets the tempo. There is no artificial gloom, no pounding club subwoofers, and no chaotic clutter. Every piece of equipment—from custom squat cells to calibrated rogue bars and kettlebells—has a deliberate place on high-density sound-dampened rubber flooring.
At 6:00am, the room is quiet, focused, and steady as the first members move through mobility prep. By 5:30pm, the energy builds with coached class rotations, yet the structure remains completely disciplined. Outside staffed hours, continuous RFID keypass access guarantees verified members a secure, uncrowded training space every single hour of the week.
